The Family Centered Maternity Care rotation is one month dedicated to delivery, newborn and postpartum care for resident continuity patients. When not involved on labor and delivery, residents focus on care of all newborns on the nursery service.
The goal of this rotation is for residents to experience the full range of family medicine maternity care, providing prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care to mother, baby and family. The FCMC rotation will allow residents to apply the knowledge and skills obtained during their longitudinal clinical experience, obstetrics rotation and didactic series are applied during this rotation. When not involved in continuity deliveries, residents train in the newborn nursery at Wakefield under the direction of nursery attending staff.
